#IndiePrideDay Feature #3 - Dylan J. Morgan

#IndiePrideDay is just around the corner. Between now and July 1st, I'll be featuring some of the indie author’s I’ve read (and loved) since becoming one myself. Today’s feature: Dylan J. Morgan.

Dylan and I first became acquainted on Twitter. I’m not sure who reached out first, but after checking out his work, I couldn’t resist picking up his novel, The Dead Lands. I love a good post-apocalyptic thriller, and from the first page, I was drawn in. The more I read, the more trouble I had putting it down. If The Dead Lands were ever made into a movie, I would be there opening night.

From my review of The Dead Lands:

“Morgan paints the picture of this ravaged world with such carefully detailed brushstrokes that you feel the desolation and death almost as if it’s another character…The storyline was absorbing. The writing was at times gritty, poignant, and brutal, but it always flowed, moving the plot forward to a nail-biting conclusion.”

Recently, I started one of Dylan’s other titles, Flesh. I sat down to read a couple of chapters, and I didn’t stop until I was 20% into the book. It is such a deliciously gruesome little gem of horror that I was instantly hooked.

I love a dark story that is so compelling, you feel like you’re a part of it. I love an author who doesn’t hold back. One who can weave such a spell with words that when they drop you into a horrible, bleak, violent world, the beauty of their writing still shines through. This is what I’ve come to expect from Dylan J. Morgan.
