Over the River and Through the Woods is a delightfully creepy short story that will leave you counting the doors the next time you visit your grandmother in the woods! Sounds strange? It won’t be after you read this dark unsettling tale. The tension and scares are woven in throughout, and there is a great twist at the end that I did not see coming. At one point, the transition between fantasy and reality did confuse me. I had to go back and re-read a couple of paragraphs to be sure I understood what was happening. Otherwise, the pacing kept me reading swiftly, scrolling through the pages on my Kindle to find out just where the author was going. The conclusion was my favorite kind: creative and nicely disturbing.
